Otium Delinquent Rosé
It is a dry still rosé, made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes grown here at the estate. A beautifully pale pink colour, with notes of red berries, freshness and a fine, textured finish.
2021
Alton
Otium Wine Estate was planted in 2021 after we moved from London to our home in the South Downs. What began as an ambitious idea to make wine from our own land has gradually grown into a working vineyard, wine business and place we can share with others. From the outset, the aim has been to do things properly rather than quickly: choosing the site carefully, working with experienced viticulturists and winemakers, and allowing the vineyard time to establish before releasing our first wines. Our first Otium wines were released in 2026, including our traditional-method sparkling rosé and still rosé, Delinquent. Otium remains very much a family-run business. We live alongside the vineyard and are closely involved in everything from growing the grapes and harvest through to the wines, events and welcoming people to the estate.
The vineyard sits on a south-facing hillside in the South Downs National Park near Alton, Hampshire, at around 150 metres above sea level. The site was selected following detailed analysis of its soils, geology, climate and aspect, and was planted in 2021 with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. We farm with a light touch, avoiding herbicides and encouraging biodiversity through cover crops, hedgerows and wildflower areas. The combination of elevation, free-draining soils and a relatively exposed hillside gives us a long, gradual growing season and fruit with the freshness and character we look for in both our still and sparkling wines.
WINEMAKER
Our wines are made in collaboration with specialist English winemakers, with the winemaking tailored to the style of each wine and vintage. Our 2023 traditional-method sparkling rosé was made at The Grange in Hampshire, while our 2025 wines were made with Defined Wine in Kent. Our approach is led by the fruit: we aim for ripe, expressive flavours, balance and texture rather than simply chasing acidity. For sparkling wines, we favour elegance, a fine mousse and generous fruit, while our still wines are made to show the character of the vineyard and the vintage.
