Haywards Heath
Bolney Wine Estate was founded in 1972 by British wine pioneers Janet and Rodney Pratt. From an original three-acre planting it has grown into one of England’s longest-established commercial estates, producing both still and sparkling wines. The West Sussex estate combines more than five decades of winemaking with tours, hospitality, a vineyard shop and food overlooking the vines.
Bolney’s 18 acres of vines sit in the West Sussex countryside on free-draining sandstone soils. The estate grows varieties suited to its cool South Downs climate and is particularly known for English Pinot Noir, while also producing white, rosé and traditional-method sparkling wines.
WINEMAKER
Head Winemaker Cara Lee Dely leads Bolney’s winery team. She joined the estate in 2021 after developing her career in South Africa and brings experience across cool-climate still and sparkling wine. The team combines careful vineyard decisions with modern winery equipment and a house style centred on fruit, balance and freshness.
