1276 Wines takes its name from an entry in the Bishop of Hereford’s Red Book recording local viticulture in that year.
The business grew from Cilla and Tim Sobey’s Redbank Vineyard, planted in 2012 on former apple-growing land near Ledbury. Their son Angus Davison helped develop the winery, and the first wines under the 1276 label were released in 2023. The winery also makes wine for other British growers.
Redbank Vineyard covers 25 acres at Wall Hills, just outside Ledbury. Its south- and south-east-facing slopes have clay loam over Silurian mudstone. Planted in 2012, the vineyard supplies grapes for still and traditional-method sparkling wines.
WINEMAKER
Head Winemaker Laurence Cocking oversees the estate’s still and sparkling wines, as well as contract winemaking for other British vineyards.

Book a guided vineyard and winery tour followed by a tutored tasting. Two-hour guided experiences run on selected Fridays and Saturdays. The self-guided “Time on the Vine” option has a separate booking calendar. Corporate visits can be arranged for groups of up to 20.

Booking is essential for all visits and normally closes 24 hours beforehand. Guided tours are for adults and include uneven ground and stairs. Dogs on leads are welcome in the vineyard but not inside the working winery. For self-guided visits, arrive by 2.30pm.
