Corallian Classic Cuvée
£34.95
A Chardonnay-led sparkling wine from Langham’s Dorset vineyard, blended with reserve wine and finished in a bone-dry style.
2009
Dorchester
Justin Langham planted the first vines at his family’s Crawthorne Farm in Dorset in 2009. Further planting expanded the vineyard to 34 hectares, devoted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Langham’s sparkling wines have a notably dry, savoury style. Natural fermentations, used oak barrels and low dosage — the sugar added after disgorgement — are central to that approach.
The vineyard lies on sheltered south- and south-west-facing slopes at Crawthorne Farm, about 80–110 metres above sea level. Flinty clay overlies chalk that drains well while retaining moisture. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are grown in separate parcels, providing different base wines for blending.
WINEMAKER
Tommy Grimshaw joined Langham in January 2019 after working at Sharpham in Devon and became Head Winemaker later that year. He ferments parcels separately with naturally occurring yeasts, using stainless steel and seasoned French oak. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation and are bottled without fining or filtration.
