The Story

Nat and Toby McConnell returned to their family’s 42-acre farm after careers in biomedical science and luxury yachting. They planted ten acres of vines in 2016 and named the vineyard after the bluestones at nearby Stonehenge. The brothers now release a small range of sparkling wines and welcome visitors to a tasting room beside the family farm.

Our Terroir & Heritage

The Vineyards

The vineyard is divided into four parcels: Three Acre, Iron Age, Roundhouse and Top Field. Sandy clay-loam topsoil drains through chalk beneath. The ten acres are planted with 58% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, and all the grapes are picked by hand. Solar power, estate spring water and cover crops form part of the vineyard’s environmental work.

The Winemaker

WINEMAKER

Nat and Toby McConnell, with Hervé Jestin

Toby studied viticulture, while Nat completed an MSc in viticulture and oenology. Their grapes are pressed at Hambledon, where they work with Hervé Jestin on the blends before the wines undergo extended ageing on the lees.
