Bright citrus and crisp orchard fruit lead into a fine, energetic mousse, with a light touch of oak adding texture without blunting the wine’s clean, chalky finish. Brilliant with oysters, crab or a bowl of very good crisps.

Andover
Winemaker Jacob Leadley founded Black Chalk in 2015, and the first wines were released in 2018. In 2020 the team established its own winery and tasting room in converted farm buildings in the Test Valley. Black Chalk makes only vintage wines, adjusting the blend to suit each harvest.
The estate’s 45,000 vines are spread across four Test Valley sites: Rivers, Levels, Hide and The Circle. The shallow soils lie over Hampshire chalk and are planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Précoce and Pinot Gris. The vineyard and winery are certified by Sustainable Wines of Great Britain.
WINEMAKER
Jacob Leadley studied at Plumpton College and worked in England, Champagne and New Zealand before founding Black Chalk. He makes the wines with Zoë Driver, who began her career at an Australian sparkling-wine producer and later became the UK’s first winemaking apprentice. They use minimal intervention in the winery and produce a separate blend for each vintage.
